Interview with Best-Selling Teyla Rachel Branton

After back-to-back-to-back interviews the day before, EA: Creatively Creative now shines the spotlight on best-selling author Teyla Rachel Branton, who writes sci-fi and fantasy under the name Teyla Branton and romance under the name Rachel Branton.

EA: What is the concept behind the Colony Six book series?

TRB: Colony Six is a paranormal, post-apocalyptic series set far in the future after an economic crash and ensuing nuclear war called Breakdown. Only 2 million people survived in the US. A strict regime called the CORE (Commonwealth Objective for Reform and Efficiency) has come into power. They protect the people from the fringers (outsiders) and have created welfare colonies for the poor. But something is rotting in the CORE, and thousands of people have already paid the price of their fake stability. Note that the paranormal aspect in Colony Six is rooted not in magic but rather in science and parapsychology. (Similar to my Unbounded series).

EA: Sketches was released last month as the first book for the series. What motivated you to start and write this series?

TRB: I’ve wanted to write a book about a police sketch artist with a special ability for a long time, but I wanted it to be unique. So, after months of brainstorming as I finished up other projects, the post-apocalyptic setting came to me. Because I feel that we today really are on the brink of economic collapse— some countries have already failed or are very close. I wanted to explore the possibilities of what might happen if that did occur world-wide, and especially in the US.

EA: Were there any authors who inspired you to become a writer?

TRB: Piers Anthony, Anne McCaffrey, Roger Zelanzy, Robert Asprin, and Stephen R. Donaldson were some of those who inspired me as a teen. Later, after a publisher accepted my books, Patricia Briggs, Barbara Kingsolver, Ilona Andrews, and others helped shaped the direction I would eventually go with my writing.

EA: Would you say that the process of writing and creating novels is easy?

TRB: To me writing is the best thing in the world. I love writing. I love creating. I mean, writing is harder than eating chocolate cake, but I’d really prefer to write than eat chocolate cake, if you get what I mean. I’d rather write than almost anything, so while it is challenging to create a story that works, to me it’s not work. It’s like breathing.

But unlike breathing, writing does take discipline. I keep track of my daily words to make sure I meet deadlines and to assure I don’t waste too much time on Facebook or similar sites. Since I have seven children, I am good with scheduling my time. In the past twenty-one years, I’ve published nearly sixty books under three names.

EA: Describe the feeling of being an international best-selling author.

TRB: I feel really fortunate to have been able to sell as many books as I have. In my niche, I was able to make bestselling lists early in the US, but when I was with my publisher in the beginning, they didn’t really sell their books overseas. Ebooks have changed all that. I am really excited to see that people all over the world enjoy my stories enough to boost my books into bestselling status in other countries.

EA: Are there any upcoming projects?

TRB: Always. I’m currently working on republishing eight books I have the rights back from a publisher, and I’m working on my Colony Six series (Teyla Branton), and my Lily’s House contemporary romance series (Rachel Branton). I also want to revisit my Unbounded urban fantasy series with a second generation.

EA: What are your aspirations as an author overall?

TRB: I want to tell stories that push at me, the kind that don’t let me sleep at night or that interrupt my waking hours with flashes of scenes. Being an author is a lot like standing on stage in a huge stadium with millions of people (ideas) shouting for attention. I take the one that’s screaming at me the loudest and get to work.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring authors/writers?

TRB: I have two areas of advice. The first is emotional. Network with other dedicated authors. They understand you more than anyone will— the strange conversations and internet searches, the daydreaming, the obsession with creating. Attend conferences, make friends. And be very sure that you don’t neglect your personal relationship. Your children grow up too fast. Make sure you’re there for them. You can never get back those years, but you can write a little less and spend that time with them. Live with no regrets. I KNOW your characters and stories drive you, but don’t let it consume you to the point where nothing else matters. Your characters might be more real to you than your next-door neighbors, but make an effort to be a part of society and to give back through service.

The second area is professional. Make sure your books are well-edited. Don’t just publish something because it’s easy to do so. I recommend having beta readers, a content editor, and at least three professional proofers. Even then a few typos will get by but your work will be your best, and that’s important. Don’t write novellas when a plot needs a longer story. I know they’re faster, but readers deserve your best. Also, I strongly feel that we writers have a duty to create stories that ultimately lift readers. Tales of no hope— I think we have enough of them. For me, I want to entertain and leave the world a little bit better than I found it.

EA: Finally, tell the readers why Sketches is a must buy.

First of all, there are no zombies! I’m not sure why so many paranormal apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic stories have zombies. While I love zombie stories like the rest — or at least some of them— I like to write about things that could come true through human greed and science. Sketches is a warning about our current society and also a tale about our responsibility to humanity as a whole. But ultimately, I think people should read Sketches because it’s an entertaining book that will take them to a new world where anything can happen.

Final comments: Thank you for having me on your blog. It was fun.

Epilogue

There's a lot of things Teyla said that I thought was key. First, an interesting analogy of how being an author is similar to standing on a world stage with millions of people (ideas, metaphorically speaking) shouting for attention.

Next, was the sound advice. To me, networking with fellow authors is absolutely important. They're on the same road you're traveling, some are behind, some are on the same pace, some are farther ahead.  Fellow authors understanding you-- generally, obviously there are rare exceptions-- better than anyone else will is THE FREAKING TRUTH! Yes indeed. From the conversations that those on the outside of our world looking in would deem "weird," to the constant moving of the mind, steadily generating ideas. Teyla went deeper than Atlantis with her advice.

Finally, discipline is definitely needed. It's very easy to get side-tracked and distracted with social media. While you want to dedicate yourself to honing your craft, achieving and maintaining a level of excellence as an author, you also don't want that drive to consume you. Stepping outside of your routine can be beneficial at times.

There's so much that she stated that I want to comment on, but I'm not sure if this blog would ever end. I truly enjoyed my conversation with Teyla, and I thank her for speaking with me today. For more on Teyla and her novels, visit her website at teylarachelbranton.com.

Interview with Author Kelly Marie

In my third straight interview this evening, my second with an international writer, straight from the UK, the spotlight shines on author Kelly Marie. I also learned that this Kelly's first ever interview, and EA: Creatively Creative is proud to be the first to have the honor.

EA: When did you realize that becoming an author was truly your calling?

KM: I had been writing for a few years but never did anything about it. But when I couldn’t stop doing anything but that, I knew it was time. I sent in my first urban fiction book titled They Call Me Law in December 2015 and it’s the best decision I ever made.

EA: You recently released the sequel to Her Knight in Street King Armor. What inspired you to write this series?

KM: I wanted to focus on something that was more heartfelt and although sad, really happened to young people. It was all fun writing about that girl who meets the man of her dreams and lives happily ever after, but what about those who didn’t have such a happy beginning? Those who had every reason to give up but didn’t.

EA: Who, if any, inspired you to become an author?

KM: As I said before, writing was something I had been doing for many years but two authors gave
me the push I needed to go through with contacting a publisher and that was Shvonne Latrice and Desiree Granger. They gave me some invaluable advice that really helped me push myself.

EA: Would you say that writing a book is an easy process?

KM: No. It is definitely something that takes time and dedication. Although for some people, the words come easier, it is still a lengthy process. In my opinion and experience.

EA: What can readers expect next from Kelly Marie?

KM: There are a few things I am working on at the moment but they can expect great characters, good storylines and unbelievable twists.

EA: What is your main aspiration as an author?

KM: I hope to help people through my stories. I always try to include morals in my books and I hope it provides people with a whole different perspective on whatever similar situation they may be in.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

KM: To believe in yourself and know that you are talented. Surround yourself with like-minded people and be prepared to accept constructive criticism because it will help in the long run.

EA: Finally, tell the readers why Her Knight in Street King Armor 2 is a must buy.

KM: Part 2 sees Deshaun ‘Grim’ Jones faced with a decision that will change his life and of those that he loves. It has a plot twist that you will not have seen coming. All the lies will be surfaced and you will find out that Kaliyah is more connected to Grim and the streets than she knew.

Epilogue

Along with intrigue and entertainment, I can relate to wanting to help others with my work, conveying important messages whether it be underneath or direct. A lot of people fail to realize the skill, time, and dedication that we put into our craft. Again, it's not rocket science, but it takes skill and technique, like anything else.

I would like to thank Kelly for speaking with me this evening. For more on Kelly, follow her on social media, and don't forget to check out Her Knight in Street King Armor 2 and more of her novels by visiting her Amazon Author Page in the links below.

Interview with Author Jessica M.

Picking up from last week, in what is another set of back-to-back interviews for EA: Creatively Creative, the spotlight shines on author Jessica M.

EA: What is the concept of Shawty Fell in Love with a Savage?

JM:  The concept behind the story is that sometimes our choices will not only affect us but the ones that are around us. Are the things we want worth the consequences? And can the love we have for others outweigh the love we have for ourselves. Lastly, that we all have a past and what we do with it is on us.

EA:  Were there any authors who influenced you to become a writer?

JM:  I read a lot of books before becoming an author, but Shvonne Latrice, K.C. Mills, Ebony Diamonds, and Mz. Lady P. were my favorites and still are.

EA: Would you say that writing a novel is easy?

JM: Writing is far from easy, but a joy. If God leads you in, he will always be there to bring you through. I love what I do even when it's not easy. Writing about different characters and letting your mind think or say what they all feel is far from easy and could be hard on the mind, but I love it.

EA: What do you look to achieve mainly as an author overall?

JM: Everything thus far has already been achieved. I've dreamed of becoming an author since I was a child but didn't strive to make it happen until a year and half ago. The goal has been met. Anything that comes with it, is just an added blessing.

EA: I understand that you're a teacher as well. How long have you been teaching?

JM:  I have been a teacher for ten years. I love it and this will be my third year working with pre-school special needs kids.  It makes me humble and appreciative to have my own children who are healthy and in their right state of mind. Small things that we usually take for granted.

EA: Would you describe the experience of teaching?

JM:  It feels good being a teacher. Often people ask me how I do it? I really don't know. It's just a passion of mines to take care of others. It's always a great  feeling to know that I made a  difference in a child's life. Being a teacher and an author were both of the things I dreamed of being and I've accomplished them both. Thank God!

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

JM: To an aspiring author I would say go for it. Even when it seem as if things aren't going as you expected, still keep pushing because the end is only when you stop trying. I haven't been at number one YET! And I'm cool with that  because just last year I wasn't an author period. Now, just to know that I have a total of 13 books published is an awesome feeling. But just stay humble and grateful and your day will come. Things may not happen when you want it to but it will  happen as long as you keep going.

EA: Finally, tell readers why Shawty Fell in Love with a Savage will be a must buy.

JM: Shawty Fell In Love With a Savage isn't your ordinary read, but it can be related to. I was a reader before I was an author so I know what I used to look for in a book. One of the most important things about all of my books is that they start pulling you in from the start. I don't believe in that waiting till the 4th chapter to get it popping. I like to read books with drama from the beginning and that's what Shawty Fell In Love With A Savage offers along with all of my other books. Trust me, if you try me out, you will not be disappointed.

Epilogue

Overall, I like to create stories that pull readers into the characters' world, particularly from the start. However, while maintaining an interesting beginning, sometimes I like to thicken the plot a little later as a teaser-- and for variety. On another note, if you have the talent, and the persistence, it's never too late to become an author. I'm in my mid-thirties, and although I've been writing most of my life,  I didn't start writing professionally until two years ago.

I would like to thank Jessica for taking the time to speak with me. If you're interested in checking out Shawty Fell In Love With a Savage, and many other novels from Jessica, visit the link below.

Interview with Best-Selling Author Lindsey Pogue

After an eventful week of interviews, EA: Creatively Creative took a brief, but much-needed break. Not complaining because I love what I do,  but I needed to turn off the spotlight for a while. After a brief hiatus, the author spotlight is on again, shining next on best-selling author Lindsey Pogue.

EA: Congratulations on your upcoming release, which appears to be the fifth installment of The Ending series. I understand that it is a collaboration with a fellow author?

LP: Thank you! And yes, The Ending Series is a project I started in 2012 with a friend of mine. It was initially going to be a blog of two friends in the middle of a viral apocalypse, emailing each other back and forth about their experiences, but we ended up turning it into a book to explore our characters beyond what they would write in an email. Five books later and we're still chugging along.

EA: What is the concept of the series?

LP: Essentially, two best friends are going to college on the opposite ends of the US. A virus outbreak sweeps the world, killing 80% of the population and the rest of the 20% either go mad from mutation or develop supernatural abilities. Dani and Zoe (the MCs) discover that although their loved ones are dead, they are still alive. With the help of strangers and while encountering peril along the way, they traverse the US (which is in shambles) to meet up in a broadcasted safe haven. It's told from both POVs and there are a ton of awesome characters you both love and hate that they encounter along the way. It's a love story, a post-apocalyptic adventure, and a story of friendship and hope.

EA: When did you discover your love for writing?

LP: I've been writing all my life. In fact, I just found my first book I wrote in elementary school (I did the illustrations and everything), titled: Birds. My favorite line from the book is, "Birds are neat. They live in nests." Haha. But more seriously, my new adult novel, Whatever It Takes, is a version of the first manuscript I finished in high school. Needless to say, writing, whether I was any good or not, has been a part of my life as long as I can remember.

EA: Were there any authors who further influenced you to write?

LP: I'd have to say that Jane Austen gave me an appreciation for the craft, and I am a major history buff, so her stories tapped into my interest in past social norms and whatnot. But Nicholas Sparks was a big one for me. His writing has always been so emotional. Though I like a bit more of a romantic flare than he generally writes, I love how human he makes his characters and how earth-shattering their stories are. He's truly a weaver of the writing craft, in my opinion.

EA: Would you say that the process of writing a novel is easy?

LP: Ha, no. Well, I guess it depends if you're asking about from the moment the idea forms in the beginning to pushing "publish" at the end, then yes. That's easy enough once you've done it once. But writing a story is hard, for me at least. I have so much I want to write and the way my mind does it is sort of all over the place; sometimes it's difficult for me to reel myself back in and think through how I'm going to link the must-have scenes together in a thoughtful, meaningful way that isn't boring. I'm such a linear thinker that it's time consuming for me, but obviously worth it. There's a lot of patience involved and discipline, and I am horrible at those two things.

A preview of Lindsey's upcoming novel.

EA: What can readers expect next from Lindsey Pogue?

LP: I have two other series I'm currently working on. Dust and Shadow (Forgotten Lands Series, book one) comes out in September, and is a post-apocalyptic love story and Victorian adventure set in a devastated and forgotten world of the American wild west. Next I'm diving into another book in my contemporary new adult series, Saratoga Falls Love Stories, which deals with love, friendship, but also the more difficult aspects of life -- mental illness, autism, death and unhealthy grieving, family bonds, etc.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

LP: If you want to write, do it. Don't let lack of experience or fear or uncertainty stop you. Get it on paper, however messily you need to do it, but get your story down. You can edit, think, change your mind later. But you'll be that much closer to finishing a project, and it's such a crazy and amazing feeling.

EA: Finally, tell the readers why The Ending series is a must buy.

LP: The Ending Series is funny in that people either LOVE it or they HATE it. It really depends on what sort of books you enjoy reading. Book one especially is very The Walking Dead (with Crazies instead of Zombies) meets X-Men, and the story itself is so many genres--romance, adventure, survival, supernatural, sci-fi, new adult--that I think there's a little bit of something in there for everyone. The first books is free, so if you are interested in seeing which one you are, a lover or a hater, it wouldn't hurt to pick up a copy and check it out. :)

Epilogue

It's interesting that Lindsey mentioned in her advice to just get whatever you have in mind down on paper; you can organize, and get it right later. When it comes to writing, I follow that advice, and I first read a similar statement about 10 years ago from Christopher Keane's How to Write a Selling Screen-Play, which is a very informative read.

I would like to thank Lindsey for taking the time to speak with me, and taking us down memory lane with her first ever book. Wow. 1992. Depending on the month of that year, I was 11, or 10 going on 11. For more on Lindsey, visit her website at www.lindseypogue.com.

Interview with Author Elle Kayson

EA: Creatively Creative lands its fifth straight interview! Next, the spotlight shines on an individual whose current novel,  The Beauty of This Street Love 3: A Texas Tale is among Amazon's top 10 in Urban Fiction/Urban Romance. Today, I had the chance to sit down and speak with author, Elle Kayson.

EA: When did you realize your desire to become an author?

EK: I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to write. I daydreamed stories all during elementary. I won an award for an essay in 7th grade. Around the same time, I carried around an old Trapper Keeper full of story scenes and plot lines. Even my professional work is about writing— I’m published in the field of history, as well.

EA: Were there any authors who influenced you to become a writer?

EK: Academically, people like Deborah Gray-White and Jacqueline Jones, who write about black women’s history, influenced me a lot. I love Toni Morrison, as well.

I read a lot of romance novels growing up, but just got into urban novels in the last year. I love Niobia Bryant and Adrianne Byrd. I adore Beverly Jenkins— she appeals to me as a historian and a romance novel lover. I was introduced to erotica by Zane and I enjoy that. My sister, who’s been reading urban for a while, repeatedly encouraged me to read and write in the field. And then I read Porscha Sterling’s Legendary Love Story series and it was a wrap. I fell in love.

EA: What is concept of The Beauty of This Street Love: A Texas Tale?

EK: Basically, it’s about growing up and growing in love against an urban back drop. I chose to set it in my favorite city— Houston. You can see the influence of traditional romance throughout the series: good girls and bad boys, the hidden child, outside love interests, etc. I wanted to show that the toughest person can be vulnerable and loyal in love.

You can also see aspects of what’s been important in my life: education, a big supportive family, humor. There were many things I wanted to bring together.

EA: Will the third installment of the series be the last one?

EK: Yes! The characters will make appearances, though. I have the attention span of a gnat, so I need a break from the Kinseys— I honestly don’t think I have 50,000+ more words to say about all of them. I’m going to wrap up loose ends in other books.

EA: Would you say that the process of writing and creating novels is easy?

EK: God, no! I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I expect things to pop from my head in final draft form. Plus, I feel like my work doesn’t get time to just sit and breathe because people demand the sequels so fast. If I could have the time to go back and catch inconsistencies and such, I’d feel better. I’m finding it super stressful.

There’s also the problem of making sure you don’t write the same character over and over. I have to watch myself!

EA: What's next on the horizon for Elle Kayson?

EK: A new set of characters, but time off to focus on my academic writing, too!

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

EK: Keep going. Keep writing. Get appropriate feedback and critique. Work on your craft. And always, always believe in yourself. I’ve been writing romance since middle school/junior high, and I’m just now getting published at 42!

EA: Finally, tell the readers why The Beauty of This Street Love: A Texas Tale series is a must buy.

EK: This series will make you fall in love and laugh. It’s the perfect escape— they live so large until it’s outlandish, but they love so deep until you’ll set new #relationshipgoals.  I’ve had people applaud me using the usual tropes, but adding originality. I love the Kinsey crew and you will, too!

Epilogue

I agree that continuing to perfect your craft is key to be a successful author. No matter how good you are, or how good you think you are, there's always room for improvement. Elle revealing her age reminded me of how deceptive looks can be. I'm sure most readers will agree that she doesn't look 42 at all. Honestly, I was thinking early to mid-thirties at the oldest.

I would like to thank Elle for taking the time to speak with me. Check out The Beauty of This Street Love: A Texas Tale and more from Elle on Amazon, but visiting the link below.

Interview with Author & Fashion Designer Julia Goodman

I've mentioned that there's more conversations with bright, creative, literary minds to come, and EA: Creatively Creative is delivering. In what is my fourth straight interview-- my first with an international writer-- I had the opportunity to talk with fashion designer, social media influencer, blogger, and author Julia Goodman.

EA: Congratulations on the release of your first book. Would you share with us the title and concept of the book?

JG: Thank you so much!! My book it titled: How To Be Glamorous On A Budget: The Modern Girl's Guide on Looking Her Best Without Burning Holes in Her Pocket. In my book I talk about the secrets of looking like a million bucks for less and I am trying to help women radiate confidence, no matter the size of their bank accounts. We all can be as glamorous as Beyonce or the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, even if we don’t have that much money.

EA: What motivated you to write it?

JG: I have worked in the luxury real estate business in Beverly Hills for a long time. This city is all about glamour and high end fashion. The interesting part is that expensive clothing doesn’t necessarily always mean glamour and style. If you have the know-how, you can look just as good, or even much better in a $100 outfit than in a $3,000 outfit. I wanted to share those tips and tricks with my readers.

EA: Was writing this book an easy process for you?

JG: On the one side, writing the book was a pretty easy process for me, because it is a topic that I absolutely LOVE. On the other side, I struggled a little bit, because English is not my first language. But I think, everyone has to get over their insecurities and just do things that are hard for them. Life favors the bold.

EA: Tell us about your blog page, International Heels.

JG: On my blog International Heels ( www.internationalheels.com) I write about Fashion, Beauty, Love and Motherhood. This Blog is for glamorous mommies, who love the newest fashion and beauty trends, love to try out new things, and talk about love and motherhood.

EA: You've also launched a fashion/accessories website. What is the name of the website, and what services does the site offer?

JG: In my online store, Julia Jolie Beverly Hills (www.juliajoliebeverlyhills.com) I sell glamorous dresses and accessories. The reason why I started my online store was, that I thought it was very hard to find dresses and accessories at a good price that don’t have the “cheap” look.

All my dresses are designed or curated by me and inspired by high end fashion designers. So you can totally find a dress, purse, or sunglasses that The Kardashians or other celebrities wore at a much more affordable price.

EA: What can we expect next from Julia Goodman?

JG: I am always working on something new! At this moment, I am translating my book into three other languages: Spanish, German and Russian. Those are the other languages that I speak, so I figured why not have it available to all my international readers. On the other end, I am working to extend my products in my online store. I will have a bigger selection coming soon.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

JG: My advice: Just do it! It can seem overwhelming to think about writing a whole book. That’s why you just have to start and go from there. No excuses!

EA:  Finally, tell the readers why How To Be Glamorous On A Budget: The Modern Girl's Guide on Looking Her Best Without Burning Holes in Her Pocket is a must buy.

JG: This book is a must buy for every fashionista in this world. Every girl should know the tips and tricks of fashion and beauty.

Epilogue

Julia's statement, "Life favors the bold" reminds me of a statement I've heard from time-to-time while watching basketball games on how the favorable calls tend to go to the more aggressive team. In anything that you aspire or venture to do in life, the first step is the hardest one. The best approach to taking that step is to just do it.

Granted, you must assess the situation and weigh your options. In other words, look before you leap, but at the same time, if you're overly analytical and hesitant, you will continue to defer and will never achieve your goals. I would like to thank Julia for taking the time to speak with me.

Interview with Author & Recording Artist Don Shetterly

In back-to-back-to-back interviews, the author spotlight shines on an individual who is not only an author, but a recording artist as well. He has appeared on national platforms such as CNN, Oprah, and Dr. Drew. EA: Creatively Creative sat down to talk with author, blogger, musician, and Trauma Therapist, Don Shetterly.

EA: What is the concept behind Hope and Possibility Through Trauma?

DS: The book grew out of much of what I had written over several years. While these writings were not necessarily meant to be put in a book, as the project came together, I saw that they fit together and showed a journey.  I wanted to share with others that there is hope and possibility in healing from a life of trauma and abuse.

All too often for those that have been through horrendous circumstances and trauma in life, there is very little hope. There are few that you can turn to for support that truly know what it means to walk through the fires and into healing. Hope and Possibility Through Trauma presented that view so that others would know someone was walking with them, supporting and giving them hope for healing.

EA: What motivated you to write it?

DS: In my own life, I have struggled through so much. Starting with being paralyzed in 1991 from a Conversion Disorder to dealing with anxiety, depression, and suicide, I often wondered if I could make it. I wondered if I could heal and have a life that was more hopeful and full of possibility than what I had in those moments.

There were times that I felt like I was all alone with no one there to support me. Even if I had supportive people in my life, I would often push them away. This book was my attempt to reach out and offer a hand to others that were going through the same moments.  It was my way of saying, 'I know you don’t know where to go for support, but I just want you to know that you are not alone. Others, like myself, have traveled these same roads.  Go ahead, take my hand and let me help you steady yourself on this difficult path.' I know what I went through and if I can make it any easier for anyone else on their journey, then I want this book to be there for them. I wanted to help others know that they are not alone.

EA: Describe the therapy that you get from writing.

DS: Writing is my way out of trauma and pain. It is my escape from despair, anxiety, and hopelessness. Often writing is my best friend that doesn’t judge me. It is where I can put my thoughts down on paper and help process all that I’m going through, dealing with, or attempting to find a solution. Sometimes, I could never get my thoughts out verbally to another soul, but through writing, I was able to say what my mouth could not.

It was my way of screaming out when I struggled to scream. It was my way of working through things that seemed far too complicated to understand, much less make sense out of in my life.  Often, I had great difficulty in finding the solution or answer to what I was attempting to put in perspective.  It was through writing that I found answers. It was through writing that the most difficult of experiences began to show their true colors. Without writing, I would not have made it through my healing.

EA: Would you say that the process of writing a book is easy?

Writing is relatively simple for me. When I was back in high school, and a teacher would have us write a paper, it was no sweat for me to complete. While most of my classmates would be worried about coming up with the required words to complete the assignment, my concern was always that I would write too much. Of course, this made my classmates somewhat irritated towards me.
Writing in itself just flows from me, especially if it is a subject that is near and dear to my heart.  Especially when I connect to the creative source without the critical side of myself, the words just flow.

I remember a college professor of a creative writing class that would just have us let the words flow as we wrote for a few minutes at the start of each class. It was great training for writing a book because it helped me step outside of the critical part of myself.

Writing a book is more involved because the work needs to have a cohesive flow to it without meandering into confusion. It becomes the difficult part for me in corralling the thoughts to flow together, so they tell the story of the point I am making. At times, it is difficult to get down on paper what I know and understand so others can easily see the point I am making. There is nothing more satisfying to me than seeing how others respond to my book and sharing that with me. It encourages and empowers me in many ways.

A collection of Shetterly's albums.
EA: I see that you also recorded an album. Would you tell us the idea and inspiration of it?

DS: Yes, I not only recorded one album, but several.  Most are easy, relaxing piano music that I have created. One is a Christmas CD of songs I used to love playing as a kid. There is one that is a recording of relaxing ocean wave sounds off the coast of New Smyrna, Florida. Most of my CD’s are piano music with no words.

I am highly creative in many things, and music is one of my ways I express myself. When I sit down and place my hands on the keyboard, the music just flows. I compare it to a conversation that one would have if they were talking to a friend. Most of the time, I do not hear what I am recording until I replay it. Until modern day recording equipment became available, I never heard most of what I created.

As I process painful moments in my life or as I go deeper into my own healing, awareness, and consciousness, the music flows from these points.  It is almost as if once I am through that point in my own process, my soul tries to communicate this through what I record.

I hope that even though the words are not present, that people still feel what the song is trying to say.  If they do, the music will carry them deeper into their own life, awakening them to things that they may not understand at this moment.  Where words cannot go, music can touch, and through my music, I hope to touch people in ways that I cannot even imagine today.

EA: Which is more challenging? Writing a book, or creating an album?

DS: I’m not sure I could choose on this one! Each has its own issues. I think the edge, though, for me would be that music is easier because it is a one-time creation. Once created, it is either published or banished to my hard drive where it is never heard from again. Sure, there is still post production work, but that pales in comparison to the amount of time editing and finalizing a book is for me.

For the album, creativity either happens, or it doesn’t. It is a one time shot where the music is perfect the way it is for my ear, or no one ever gets to hear it. In this case, the album is easier. While writing comes easily for me, the editing and piecing it together in a perfectly crafted work is not the easy part. It is more of a struggle, and fortunately, I have some talented people that assist me in that area.

EA: Do you have any upcoming projects?

DS: I am currently working on a new book which will take off from my first book. It will go into more detail of what I did to heal. I realized that I still struggle with the question of  'what did I do to heal?' I have had many people ask me, and I stumbled around in the dark for the answer. This book has been my way of going back and looking at the things that got me through when I had no idea how to heal.

That is the focus of this new book. Until it’s finished, I will channel my creativity into editing it and making it into a work that I’m proud of, and hopefully helps others in their lives. My hope is that this new book will be ready and finished by the end of October 2017. It has already been in the works for well over a year.

EA: What is your aspiration as a literary and recording artist overall?

DS: My hope in life is that I can touch other people in a way that they have not yet discovered. I want to help them turn the lightbulb on and see something different than they saw before they encountered something I have created. I want my life to touch others, so they know that if they walk through some of the most difficult darkness in this world, that there is hope and that someone else has made it. My hope is that when I leave this world, someone will look back and say, “he made a difference, and he touched my life for the better!”

EA: Describe the feeling of being able to tell your life's story on worldwide platforms.

DS: I grew up in the world where the internet was just beginning to come alive. I remember my first CompuServe email address and when I first started using a mouse on a PC. I remember when I first started to look for help, and finding one of the first support forums for male survivors of child abuse.
The resources have not always been there, but with social media and our smartphones, so much has changed. I’m in awe of how far my books and my music have reached. I see the visits and purchases from people in all parts of the world, and it is mind blowing. I would have never imagined that several years ago.

I’m glad that the internet has brought us closer together as a world. I think there is so much we can do to help each other learn and grow. I think it can help offer support to those who feel like they are the only ones.

It gives me a great honor and a heart full of love to see how my words and my music reach into places I have never heard of in my life.  It is hard to grasp just how much impact I have. I so love hearing from people around the world who are touched by something I’ve created and sent out.

One of the things I struggled with early on was what people would think if I shared some of the most intimate things in my life. I’ve found out that they too are happy that I did because it gave them hope.  It gave them support. They learned that through me sharing my life in very personal ways that they too have a voice. Silence no longer needs to exist because there are many hands out there helping to guide them along their journey. My words and music are only one voice out in the world. There are many.

EA: Finally, tell the readers why Hope and Possibility Through Trauma is a must buy.

DS: If you have ever suffered trauma or witnessed trauma, Hope and Possibility Through Trauma is a must buy. It will let you know you’re not alone. It will challenge you to think beyond into the possibility of what you don’t know exists. Even if not challenged as severely as I was, you will know without a shadow of a doubt that there is hope and healing beyond what people endure.

People who have been traumatized and suffer from anxiety, depression, suicide and mental health issues are not weak. They have just had to be strong for too long with no support system to back them up. My book, Hope and Possibility Through Trauma, is a reassurance and an offering of support to all those that need to know there is a reason to live in this moment and the next.

Life may be difficult and present to us challenges greater than we think we can endure. However, we can take all that was thrown at us along with the support of others and set out to find the possibility of healing for our lives. That is why everyone should buy my book.

Epilogue

Far too often, people tend to think that those who have had traumatic experiences are "weak." It doesn't make you weak, it makes you human, especially when one gathers the courage to express what they went through. It takes more strength than we think.

I, too, believe that writing offers a therapeutic release. It can tap into many inner-thoughts and emotions. It can get across points that you can't always express verbally. I definitely enjoyed my conversation with Don, and I thank him for taking the time to speak with me. If you would like more information on Don visit his website http://donshetterly.com/.

Interview with Author Krystle Yvette

EA: Creatively Creative has its second back-to-back interviews in two days. This time, I have the opportunity to speak with an author whose latest novel, Loving a Certified Savage, released on Tuesday. Next, the author spotlight shines on authoress Krystle Yvette.

EA: Congratulations on your newest release, Loving a Certified Savage. This is your debut release under Royalty Publishing House. What was it about Royalty that moved you to sign with them?

KY: I did so much research on different publishers that are in high demand right now. I wanted a great publisher. I wanted a publisher that could help me learn, grow, and prosper with my writing. You’re only as good as who you surround yourself with. If I wanted to be a great writer I had to surround myself with great writers.
So, I read a lot of books from Royalty. Studied their website and book reviews. Their instant acknowledgement of my submission made my decision even easier. They had everything I was looking for. A publisher who understands my vision, but is there to right me when I’m wrong and help me if I fall. I was looking for a family. I found that in Royalty!

EA: What is the concept of Loving a Certified Savage?

KL: The concept of Loving a Certified Savage is simple — LOVE. Love can sometimes be pain, and that is what I wanted to portray. That although you may have been through some things and may have had your heart broken, pure love still exists. I wanted to portray that it my writing. Everybody deserves to love and be loved. No matter the trials and tribulations love will prevail.

EA: When did writing become a passion for you?

KL: Writing became a passion for me in the 6th grade. I won a national writing contest for the Jackie Robinson Foundation. My picture was in the paper and everything. I knew then that writing would take me to unforeseen places.

EA: Were there any authors who inspired you to become a writer?

KL: Yes! I am an avid reader whenever I am not writing. I will say Wahida Clark, Sister Soulja, any Triple Crown author. Ashley & JaQuavis. Noire. Zane. Lol. So many to name!

EA: Would you say that writing a novel is easy?

KL: I would say once you have your storyline and characters, the flow gets easy. It’s thinking of something worth while to write about that I don’t think is easy. There are so many authors in the urban fiction world so you don’t want your work to seem unauthentic or repetitive. Going to the depths of my mind to write something great is what isn’t quite easy. But writing as a whole comes naturally for me.

EA: What's next for Krystle Yvette?

KL: What’s next for Krystle Yvette is writing more dope books! Giving the readers a reason to keep coming back. Working towards having national best-selling author in front of my name.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

KL: Everything you go through is a lesson. Grow and learn from it. Stay consistent. Work hard. Never give up! Never doubt your talents! Stay humble and success will follow!

EA: Finally, tell the readers why Loving a Certified Savage: The Love Story of Stormie and Ashton is a must buy.

KL: It touches on many things that couples endure with life, love, and relationships. It’s filled with pure genuine emotion and love. It’s as real and uncut as it gets. It’s a beautiful love story that will definitely take you on a roller coaster ride and have you wanting more. You have to read it to believe it. Lol. It’s definitely a must read.

Epilogue

As an author, when you truly care about your craft, coming up with stories that are worth while to readers can be a challenge, but a thrill at the same time. The beauty of it is digging deep within the depths of your literary being and creating something that engages the readers and pulls them into the world of the characters. I would like to thank Krystle for taking the time to speak with me. Check out more of her novels by visiting the link below.

4,000 Views Edition: Interview with Best-Selling Author K.L. Hall

EA Creatively Creative's author spotlight shines on one whose book series, Diary of a Hood Princess was a best-seller, has been featured on radio interviews, press releases, and was named one of the top Urban Fiction authors of 2016 by the Urban Books, Authors and Writers of America. Tonight, I had the opportunity to speak with that very author, K.L. Hall.

EA: When did you discover your love for writing?

KL: If you ask my mother, she would probably tell you I picked up a pencil before I could walk! I think I really discovered my love for writing in elementary school. My teacher actually had us write and illustrate our own books, which was a very amazing experience, looking back.

EA: What is the concept of Broken Condoms and Promises 2?

KL: Broken Condoms and Promises 2 is the sequel of Broken Condoms and Promises. This series centers around three main characters, Siya, Eshari and Cassidy. These three ladies' worlds are turned upside down one year shy of their thirtieth birthdays. Readers will definitely be able to connect to the characters as they ride with them through their ups and downs.

EA: Is this last installment of the series?

KL: This is the second installment. I'm currently working on part three, which will be the final installment in the series.

EA: Would you say that the process of writing a novel is easy?

KL: Absolutely not! In fact, I think it takes a very special person to be a storyteller. To be able to sit and create all of these characters, scenarios, dialogues, etc. As an author, you're essentially creating a whole new world for your readers to explore, and that's far from easy.

EA: What was it like being featured on radio interviews?

KL: Nerve wrecking. Exhilarating. Humbling.

EA: Describe the feeling of being acknowledged as one of top Urban Fiction authors of 2016.

KL: So let me tell you how I found out. It was New Years Eve, almost 11pm. I get on Facebook and see people sharing the post and thanking the voters. I was like okay, let me check this out. I click on the link and I'm scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, then BAM! There's my name! I screamed and told everyone who was in the living room with me and we went OFF! It was so freeing. I put in sooooo much work in 2016, dropping 6 books! I just felt like my hard work really paid off and I was getting the recognition I deserved.

EA: Are there any upcoming projects?

KL: Absolutely! There's always something cooking in the lab with me. The first book to my new series (book 15) comes out in early August. I'm also working on finishing Broken Condoms and Promises 3.

EA: What do you aspire to achieve mostly as an author?

KL: Recognition. I definitely want to continue to get my name out there more. But overall, my main goal is to give my readers a GOOD story from cover to cover. I want them to be able to see themselves in my characters, as well as their best friends, boyfriends, husbands, grandmas and aunties! When people see my name anywhere, I want them to automatically say ‘Damn, I know this is about to be a good story.’

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

KL: Don't give up. This industry is hard and it will break you if you let it. You've got to have tough skin. If you're doing it solely for the money, stop now. You've really got to love what you do in order to give the readers what they want. The art of storytelling is a blessing, and not everyone can do it. If you've got the talent, use it.

EA: Finally, tell the readers why the Broken Condoms and Promises series is a must read.

KL: Although the title may be a little "risqué," it's an amazing, down-to-earth read that almost anyone can get behind. You've had heartbreak, friend drama, man problems. You can relate to this series. I also love this series because it touches on financial issues, suicide, homosexuality and other things that may not be openly discussed in our communities today. Oh, and let's not forget, I still brought the drama!

Epilogue

Very sound advice from K.L. For me, the art of writing and storytelling is a gift from the Most High, and is truly a passion of mine. As I've stated before, no, it's not neuroscience, but there's a skill and technique to it like every other occupation. She's absolutely right; not everyone can do this. I'll admit, my goal is to continue to flourish and establish my career as an author, so financial rewards is a factor, but it is far from the main reason why I do what I do.

I really enjoyed my conversation with K.L., and I thank her for stopping by to speak with me. If you would like to know more about K.L. Hall, or would like to try more of her novels, you can visit her website at  www.authorklhall.com. Interview with Author Natisha Raynor

The author spotlight has been working overtime. Immediately following my interview with best-selling author Tya Marie, EA: Creatively Creative kept the light on for author Natisha Raynor.

EA: When did you discover your passion for writing?

NR: I discovered my passion for writing when I was twelve years old.

EA: Loving a Haitian Boss is an interesting title. What is the concept behind it?

NR: The concept for Loving a Haitian Boss came from me reflecting on a guy that I used to date. He was born in Haiti and his family moved to New York when he was young. At the age of sixteen, he began trafficking drugs to North Carolina where he became both feared and respected. 95% of the book is fiction but the general concept came from that reflection.

EA: This is the fourth installment for the series. Is this the final one?

NR: There are actually five parts to Loving a Haitian Boss. The finale, was released on July 22nd. I made it five parts because I wanted to give each couple their own book.

EA: Would you say that the process of writing a novel is easy?

NR: The process of writing a novel comes very naturally to me but it’s not always easy. The constant worry of am I giving enough back story, am I giving too much detail, not enough detail, etc. are things that I worry about but overall the process isn’t hard for me.

EA: What's next for Natisha Raynor?

NR: I am currently working on part two, to a novel that will be released in August. This book will only have two parts.

EA: What is the ultimate goal for you as an author?

NR: The ultimate goal for me as an author is to be able to make enough money to live well and only release a few books a year. I want my previous works to continue to sell as the years go by and for my fan base to continue to grow.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

NR: Never give up, even if your book isn’t selling as much as you would like it to or if you receive negative reviews, comments, etc. Continue to study and perfect your craft and don’t judge your progress off of someone else’s. Don’t feel like you have to conform or do what others do to sell books.

EA: Finally, tell the readers why Loving a Haitian Boss series is a must buy.

NR: The Loving a Haitian Boss series as a whole is a must buy because I touch on a lot of real issues. Domestic violence, human sex trafficking, drug addiction, etc. A lot of people put urban fiction down because they feel it glorifies certain things, but these are things that go on every day, whether someone puts it in a book or not. It gets put in music and in movies because it happens. I try to deliver a message in each of my books so that not only is the reader entertained but it makes them stop and think.

Epilogue

That's definitely sound advice from Natisha. One should focus on perfecting one's own craft, establishing one's own legacy, versus trying to emulate or conform to someone else's writing style, approach, or standards. I believe in being resourceful, so taking something that you find applicable and adding it to your own approach is one thing, but being a carbon copy or a people pleaser is something totally different, and I would advise against it.

It's funny that she mentioned the detractors of Urban Fiction because when I see content that I don't agree with or find questionable, I have to remind myself that like it or not, it's real. These types of behaviors and situations take place in reality. I definitely would like to thank Natisha for speaking with me today. Check out her novels on Amazon by visiting the link below.

Interview with Best-Selling Author Tya Marie

I mentioned in my last blog, that there are more bright, creative, literary minds to come. Less than 24 hours after speaking with author Amber Shanel, the author spotlight shines once again, this time on best-selling author Tya Marie.

EA: What is the concept behind So Obsessed with a Brooklyn Boss: She Fell in Love with that Dirty Money?

TM:  The concept behind So Obsessed is reminiscent of the movie Set It Off, with Moe's character being similar to the level-headed Stoney in the film. Moe hustles hard to make sure that her baby sister, Roni, is able to live out her dreams of being a dancer.
While doing so, she meets Savant, who exposes her to a love and normalcy she craves but has no idea how to achieve. While Moe wants to quit and be with Savant, she has her money hungry foster mother standing in the way along with her trigger-happy best friend, Damaris.

EA: What is your approach to engaging readers?

TM: My approach to engaging readers is to give them a rich storyline with memorable characters that they root for, even the antagonists. My goal with every series is to have readers connect with my stories in a way they haven't done with others, and when they finish, think "This was different...but I liked it."

EA: Were there any authors who inspired you to become a writer?

TM: There are many authors who have inspired me to become a writer. My writing style has been influenced greatly by JK Rowling, who taught me everything I needed to know about structure. Then there are my suspense favorites such as Harlan Coben, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, mixed in with my Urban faves Sistah Souljah, Tanika Lynch, and T.N. Baker, each giving me urban grit and the ability to captivate an audience.

EA: Would you say that the process of writing a novel is easy?

TM: I wouldn't describe writing a novel as easy because while it's not hard to write a book, incorporating all the necessary elements to make it successful is. You have to create characters with likes, dislikes, aspirations, and downfalls with an authentic backdrop for the story to unfold. While some authors write on the fly, for most it takes practice and planning to write a good book.

EA: Your series Grimey: Married to the King of Miami became a best-seller on Amazon. Describe the feeling of that achievement.

TM: The feeling of seeing Grimey hit #1 on the Women's Best Sellers List was surreal. It was a small story that started on Wattpad over three years ago and I never expected it to be such a success. The reviews warmed my heart and I'm still in awe of its success.

EA: Ultimately, what is your goal as a writer?

TM: My goal as a writer is to branch out of the literary world and eventually write both screenplays, music, and even television pilots.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

TM: The advice that I would give to aspiring writers is to study your craft as much as possible. Whether it be through reading, writing, or taking classes, always remain invested in becoming the best version of yourself that you can be.
Also, learn how to take constructive criticism. If someone who has been in the game longer than you is giving you advice to improve yourself, absorb it and use it as a stepping stone to becoming your best self.

EA:  Finally, tell the readers why So Obsessed with a Brooklyn Boss: She Fell in Love with that Dirty Money is a must buy.

TM: So Obsessed with a Brooklyn Boss is a must buy because it's a story of a young woman torn between the life of fast money and cons that have been supporting her since she was young, and finding a true love with the normalcy she's always desired. You fall in love with Moe and her fierce spirit first, and her story of survival second.

Epilogue

It's interesting that Tya made reference to being able to take constructive criticism. That's key not only in writing, but in life, in general. While you will encounter those who are spiteful-- the word that's typically used is "haters"-- there are some who will give their honest opinion, and you can't take it personally. I would like to thank Tya for taking the time to speak with me. Check out more of Tya's novels on Amazon by visiting the link below.

Interview with Author Amber Shanel

The author spotlight shines on back-to-back nights for EA: Creatively Creative. Tonight, I had a chance to speak with author Amber Shanel.

EA: This is the third installment of the She Not Ready for a Savage Like Me series. Is this the final installment of the series?

AS: For that series, yes, but I do plan on doing a spin-off in the near future. When I ended part three, I necessarily didn't wrap up the book completely simply because I wanted to leave room for a possible spin-off! I do feel like the four secondary characters' stories aren't quite finished yet.

EA: What inspired you to write this series?

AS: Wow...I wanted to go beyond the books that I've previously wrote, in other words I wanted to challenge myself with a different plot. I feel like the dynamics of my pen is more than the books I've wrote before. My pen is far too versatile and I wanted this to be ONE of the series that showcase that.

EA: Are there any authors who influenced or inspired you to become a writer?

AS: After reading Obsession by Treasure Hernandez...it really inspired me to write African American Fiction/ Urban.

EA: Besides Urban Fiction, are there any genres that you write or would like to write?

AS: Honestly, I've really been thinking about dabbling into Romance! And maybe paranormal... but shhh! Don't tell nobody!

EA: Would you say that the process of writing and creating a novel is easy?

AS: For everyone it is different, but I would say that it can be a bit troubling. For me, my mind is all over the place at times, so now I find myself having to write everything down! It's so easy to think of a plot, setting and characters but putting into words is a whole other thing but nonetheless I love it. It may get difficult at times, but it's nothing like putting your blood, sweat and tears into something then watching it become something great!

EA: What can readers expect next from Amber Shanel?

AS: So, for the month of August I plan on dropping two books; a part one to a NEW series and a standalone! For updates on everything check out my website, www.sheisambershanel.com.

EA: What is your main aspiration as an author overall?

AS: At this point, it's honestly to just obtain as many readers as I can. I literally want my books to be a house hold topic. Of course, I would love to become a New York Times Bestselling Author but right now, I'm just working on building myself up as an author.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

AS: Don't hesitate to go ahead and take that leap of faith to become an Author! You can always turn nothing into something!

EA: Finally, tell the readers why She Not Ready for a Savage Like Me 3 is a must buy.

AS: She Not Ready For A Savage Like Me 3 not only wraps up that series, but it has a major plot twist that no one saw coming. As an author with each book I write, I try to develop characters that you can fall in love with and plots that make you not want to put the book down! If you're into being on the edge of your seat while reading a book and of course Urban Fiction with a lil Romance then it's definitely the read for you! Thank you so much for having me!

Epilogue

I can relate to the desire and strategy of creating compelling characters and story lines that pull the readers into the world of the story. I want to thank Amber for taking the time to speak with me. For EA: Creatively Creative, there's more bright, creative, literary minds to come. Stay tuned.

Interview with Author Tameka Harris

Last week, EA: Creatively Creative spoke with author and poet Jennifer Johnson. My interview with her became my seventh post with 100 views, fifth to 200, and fourth with over 300 views! This week, the author spotlight shines on author Tameka Harris.

EA: What inspired you to write We Were Meant for This Hood Luv?

TH: Honestly...just to be different. To show the different aspects of life and how we deal with them, just with an urban twist! LOL!

EA: Were there any authors who motivated you to become a writer?

TH: Well I have to say first and foremost...Ms. Terry McMillian. The Interpretation of Everything. I mean, need I say more? That woman is amazing. Absolutely amazing! The second author that had motivated me to write is all hands down Ms. Jade Jones. Her book Cameron was actually the first urban fiction novel that I had ever picked up and read. I love her; she's amazing. You can really tell that she writes from her heart! She inspires me so much!

EA: What is your approach for engaging readers?

TH: My motto is always treat people the way that you want to be treated. Be kind, courteous and most definitely down to earth. Relatable, never untouchable and always stay humble. I always make my readers feel like they are the most important people in the world to me...cause they are. They give me life! They keep me sane. They make me what I am today! Point Blank!

EA: Would you say the process of writing a novel is easy?

TH: Well I wouldn't say it's easy, and then again I wouldn't say it's hard. It's basically whatever you make it, if you love something, and I mean really love something. You put your all into it, no matter if it's two days or twenty.

EA: At what point in your life did you know that writing was something that you wanted to do?

TH: This one is really easy. I knew that writing was for me, when my little sister, who has no sense of humor at all, (lol) read one of my short stories,  laughed, and told me how much that she enjoyed it! She's a hard cookie to crack, so when she said that I had talent and suggested that I should write more, I took her advice and followed my dream. And thanks to her, I haven't turned back since!!!

EA: Are there any upcoming projects?

TH: As a matter of fact there are, I have something new in the works. It's actually in the editing process and on its way to kindle.

EA: What is your vision as an author, overall?

TH: Well my vision as an author is to one day get my books made into movies, as well as own my own publishing company. To be able to give people out there an opportunity to follow and achieve their dreams like I did!

EA: Finally, tell the readers why We Were Meant for this Hood Luv is a must buy.

TH: Like I've said before, it's different. I promise you won't ready for anything like it in your life. It's not the typical story. It's funny, gritty, it's relatable. It has a little something for everybody in it to enjoy. As well as my other books. As a matter a fact, check out my page on amazon and check out some of my books, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Epilogue

Tameka provides an interesting outlook on the process of creating and writing a novel. Like anything else in life, your mentality towards that goal or task is what you make it. Writing is far from neuroscience, but it's definitely NOT a cakewalk, as those who aren't writers would suggest. There's a technique and skill to it just like everything else. I would like to thank Tameka for taking the time to share her thoughts, inspirations, and the essence of herself as an author.
