Interview with Author Amber Shanel

The author spotlight shines on back-to-back nights for EA: Creatively Creative. Tonight, I had a chance to speak with author Amber Shanel.

EA: This is the third installment of the She Not Ready for a Savage Like Me series. Is this the final installment of the series?

AS: For that series, yes, but I do plan on doing a spin-off in the near future. When I ended part three, I necessarily didn't wrap up the book completely simply because I wanted to leave room for a possible spin-off! I do feel like the four secondary characters' stories aren't quite finished yet.

EA: What inspired you to write this series?

AS: Wow...I wanted to go beyond the books that I've previously wrote, in other words I wanted to challenge myself with a different plot. I feel like the dynamics of my pen is more than the books I've wrote before. My pen is far too versatile and I wanted this to be ONE of the series that showcase that.

EA: Are there any authors who influenced or inspired you to become a writer?

AS: After reading Obsession by Treasure Hernandez...it really inspired me to write African American Fiction/ Urban.

EA: Besides Urban Fiction, are there any genres that you write or would like to write?

AS: Honestly, I've really been thinking about dabbling into Romance! And maybe paranormal... but shhh! Don't tell nobody!

EA: Would you say that the process of writing and creating a novel is easy?

AS: For everyone it is different, but I would say that it can be a bit troubling. For me, my mind is all over the place at times, so now I find myself having to write everything down! It's so easy to think of a plot, setting and characters but putting into words is a whole other thing but nonetheless I love it. It may get difficult at times, but it's nothing like putting your blood, sweat and tears into something then watching it become something great!

EA: What can readers expect next from Amber Shanel?

AS: So, for the month of August I plan on dropping two books; a part one to a NEW series and a standalone! For updates on everything check out my website, www.sheisambershanel.com.

EA: What is your main aspiration as an author overall?

AS: At this point, it's honestly to just obtain as many readers as I can. I literally want my books to be a house hold topic. Of course, I would love to become a New York Times Bestselling Author but right now, I'm just working on building myself up as an author.

EA: What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

AS: Don't hesitate to go ahead and take that leap of faith to become an Author! You can always turn nothing into something!

EA: Finally, tell the readers why She Not Ready for a Savage Like Me 3 is a must buy.

AS: She Not Ready For A Savage Like Me 3 not only wraps up that series, but it has a major plot twist that no one saw coming. As an author with each book I write, I try to develop characters that you can fall in love with and plots that make you not want to put the book down! If you're into being on the edge of your seat while reading a book and of course Urban Fiction with a lil Romance then it's definitely the read for you! Thank you so much for having me!
